Thursday, 21st of November 2013 marks the UK’s fifth National Freelancers Day (NFD), bringing together business leaders, political heavyweights and independent professionals to reflect on the power of the freelance model.

To celebrate National Freelancers Day, we thought we’d recap on some of our own achievements made in 8 years of operating a freelance-based PR service:

1. Painstakingly built a network of 900+ PRN associates
2. Serviced 100+ clients
3. Supported 20+ PR agencies
4. Launched 17 retail stores, 3 mobile phones, 1 tablet, 1 mega famous flat screen TV, 2 apps and loads of new e-commerce websites
5. Supported the launch of the UK’s 4G network
6. Run campaigns in 20 countries
7. Operated on 6 continents
8. Broken the $1m barrier (2009)
9. Broken the £1m barrier (2010)
10. Featured in lots of national media including the FT, Sunday Times & the Guardian for our innovative business model & flexible working approach

The biggest change we’ve seen in 8 years of building The PR Network is that ‘freelancer’ is no longer a dirty word. With flexible working accepted across industries, and technology making it possible to do great work anywhere, freelancing is now a totally credible career choice. It’s great to see it celebrated with its own National Day, giving more credence to freelancing and giving hope to those wanting to go it alone.
