From freelance lone ranger to global communications firm in five years…

Well The PR Network turned five in 2010 and what a roller-coaster ride the last five years have been! As we face our 6th year in business, we’re looking back at the key milestones:

Spring 2005: Nicky leaves the safe haven of PR agency life and strikes out as a freelancer….work with Microsoft, Deloitte and various agencies follows

Summer 2005: Nicky and George conceive the idea of a senior freelance network deployed flexibly to meet client needs – over a few wines in SW18

Christmas 2005: We run our first big client launch for a VoIP company

Spring 2006: Win two big SME clients on retainer – ADTECH (part of AOL) and LogLogic. Both are still clients today and have grown into pan-European accounts

Summer 2006: Pick up Sony as first major blue chip client for big projects

Late 2006: Win competitive pitch for consumer client (The Healthy Back Bag Company)

Spring 2007: Landmark – over 100 associates in the network

Late 2007: Win Adobe’s European AR programme (UK, France, Germany) – still a client in 2011

2008: Win brief to build European comms function for NEC – a long standing client

Spring 2009: Launch online payments company ClickandBuy in the UK to rival PayPal

Summer 2009: Win five figure monthly retainer to handle PR for large software company in UK, Germany, Japan, Australia and the US

Christmas 2009: Launch first of our “Pod” practice groups: The Corporate Pod

January 2010: James Read joins management team from Citigate as Director

Spring 2010: Launch Buxter (ClickandBuy’s Facebook payment app)

Summer 2010: Our Green Pod wins two competitive pitches for environment clients

September 2010: PRN is five years old and a £multi-million business

December 2010: Associate network reaches 500 worldwide

January 2011: The PRN ranks are swelled with the hire of Russell Barrow from PR firm Red. Briefs already coming in for New Year support from telco & green companies. We’re looking forward to another busy year.
